The timestamping project
team is going to take part in Hong Kong Information Infrastructure
Expo, which shows the latest IT products/services. The Expo is going
to be held from 19 to 22 February 2003 at the Hong Kong Convention
Exhibition Centre, Wan Chai. Our booth number is F24.
In the expo, we are going to introduce the concept and potential
applications of Electronic Time-Stamping. We are also going to give
demonstrations of some potential applications.

Coverage in HK Economic Times (20 Mar 2002)
ˇ§Timestamps Guarantees
More Secure E-commerceˇ¨ was the second article on timestamps published
in HK Economic Times in March. The article first introduced the
Technology Exposition 2002, which goes on to explain the development
of timestamps, a government-funded project carried by the Chinese
University of HK..

Press
Coverage in HK Economic Times (7 Mar 2002)
A Chinese article in
the HK Economic Times talks about the important function of protecting
intellectual property rights by the new technology of timestamps.

Radio Television Hong Kong program on Electronic Time-Stamping (26 Jan 2002)
Radio Television Hong
Kong has made a program called "Technofrontier" to introduce the
new technologies and ideas developed by the Hong Kong people. The
episode broadcasted on 26 Jan 2002 introduced Electronic Time-Stamping as
a useful technology helping in the protection of intellectual properties.
In the program, there
was an interview with a composer. He said that each time after finishing
a new song, he would send himself a registered mail containing the
song, so he could get the stamp containing the date from the post
office. This sealed register mail would be his evidence to prove
that he is the composer of the song. The function of Electronic Time-Stamping
is the same as the stamp from the post office, though it is much
more convenient. By using timestamping, people like composers, designers
and authors can have strong proofs of their copyrights.

program on Electronic Time-Stamping, please go to http://www.rthk.org.hk/rthk/tv/technofrontier/20020126.html

Brochure
for Electronic Time-Stamping Project is published (3 Dec 2001)
The brochure introducing
Electronic Time-Stamping Project is published in Nov 2001. The brochure points
out the need for Electronic Time-Stamping service, explains what timestamping
is, illustrates the steps of generating a timestamp and highlights
the possible applications of timestamps. It also contains information
about the project team.
Copies of the brochure
will be distributed to interested parties and the public. They are
used to help promoting the concept of timestamping. People who would
like to have a copy of the brochure can make a request at webmaster@e-timestamping.com.

RFC
3161 in Time-Stamp Protocol is published (29 August 2001)
The Internet Engineering
Task Force (IETF) has published RFC 3161 "Internet X.509 Public
Key Infrastructure Time-Stamp Protocol (TSP)" in August, 2001.
The document describes the format of a request sent to a Time Stamping
Authority (TSA) and of the response that is returned. It also establishes
several security-relevant requirements for TSA operation, with regards
to processing requests to generate responses.
Please go to ftp://ftp.rfc-editor.org/in-notes/rfc3161.txt
to view the whole article.

The
demo for intellectual property protection is launched (9 August
2001)
Electronic Time-Stamping can be
a fast and convenient means to protect intellectual properties.
If there is a dispute regarding the intellectual property rights
of the data in the future, the timestamp can serve as a strong proof
of ownership of the copyrights. Electronic Time-Stamping discourages others
from stealing or claiming ownership of one's creative works.
A demo was launched on
9 August, 2001 to let users generate timestamps for intellectual
property protection. In the demonstration, users can generate timestamps
for their data, verify the data files with the timestamps and retrieve
the list of timestamps in case they lose their timestamps. There
is also a sample homepage to show users how to create a one-click
verification logo on their own homepages.

'Understand
Electronic Time-Stamping in One Minute' is launched (1 August 2001)
To help users to understand
the concept of Electronic Time-Stamping easily, 'Understanding Electronic Time-Stamping
in One Minute' was launched on 1 August, 2001. Users can get a brief
idea about Electronic Time-Stamping and its mechanism from the animation.

Press
Coverage in Hong Kong Economic Times (16 July 2001)
Hong Kong Economic Times
reported about Electronic Time-Stamping on 16 July, 2001. The article "Loophole
in Digitally Signed Contract as Signing Time Can Be Changed,"
which is in e-Daily (A29), points out the inadequacy of the existing
Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) as it lacks the time element. The
article also briefly describes the timestamping project and explains
the mechanism of generating an e-timestamp.

Press
Coverage in Media Digest (30 May 2001)
A Chinese article discussing
the current technologies to protect intellectual properties in digital
format was published in Media Digest by Radio Television Hong Kong.
Electronic Time-Stamping is one of the mentioned technologies.
